Breandán O'Conchúir
Woodwork
Breandan is a native of West Kerry. I started doing timber work first for my hom and then as a hobby that grew into a semi-professional occupation.
Even though he started creating large furniture items such as wardrobes and bedroom furniture, even made some beds, he now concentrates mainly on Sugan children's chairs, as were shown on 'Nationwide' on RTE television. These can be personalised with the name of the child. Other items he makes include coffee tables, some made with recycled wood and slate. 'Noses' - these are spectacle holders in the shape of a nose, small book holders and CD holders. He works with all types of wood and use wax or oil finishes on my creations.
Breandan has been selling my work through 'An Gailearai Beag' since 2005, and also from his workshop at home.
